Mel Watman, the great athletics journalist, died on 17 September 2021 from cancer aged 83. To my mind, Mel was the best international athletics journalist of the last 65 years coupled with being a statistical wizard. His Editorial years at Athletics Weekly were, and are, unparalleled.
