University College student, Henry Murdoch of Highgate Harriers, ran his fastest 3000m to date with a time of 9:01.99 in the Watford Graded meeting on Wednesday 4 September. His previous best was 9:15 in 2017. Nikki Faulkner, the Imperial College student, continued his good running with a time of 1:57.75 in the 800m. Under 17 runner Finlay Sleeman ran 2:08.36 in an 800m race, not terribly far off his best of 2:07.56.

On the evening of Wednesday 11 September, Highgate Harriers hold their final Open Meeting at Parliament Hill and, are expecting a good turn-out. 

Also at the Southern Counties Road Relay Championships at Crystal Palace on 22 September, Highgate have a good record and should do well again. They run round a lot of the old Crystal Palace motor racing circuit and it does not cost anything to see the event.

INNOCENT GOES OUT WITH A BANG

Highgate Harrier Mark Innocenti, running in the Last Friday in the Month 5k round the Serpentine on 30 August came 3rd out of 276 finishers in 16:02, only 4 seconds behind the winner. 

ALEX AS KEEN AS EVER

Alex Davidson, at 57, has been mixing the season with track and road racing and before that, earlier in the year, won the Middlesex ‘Over 50’ cross country Championships. Alex was 90th in 1hr 19.26 out of 1569 that were counted in the Maidenhead half marathon on Sunday 1 September.

Also in the race was on Highgate’s best marathon runners Dan Higgins, an over 40 runner, who came 45th in1:15.49. Earlier this year he ran two good marathons; they were. 2:33.43 at Boston and 2:36.55 in the London.
