At Wimbledon in the Hercules Wimbledon Night of Graded 5000 m races on 6 August, several of Highgate Harriers 'A' runners competed at the meeting organised by Highgate's Ben Noad and Hercules & Wimbledon club. Any male runner who runs inside 15 minutes for 5000m would be classed as a very good club runner and a number of athletes ran inside this mark, all from the Highgate team that came second in the National 12 Stage Road Relay back in April. At Wimbledon in race 6 (the highest Grade race), although being fourteenth of the 16 competitors, Alex Bampton ran a personal best time of 14:50.35. In Race 5 Charlie Haywood was second in 14:49.0, Rob Wilson was fourth in a personal best of 14:50.31 and Rui Yong Soh came tenth in a personal best of 14:59.23. In Race 3, where 16 competed, Highgate's Henry Murdoch was first in 15:38.91, still a very good club time.
