21-year-old William Broom, a King's College, London student who trains at Parliament Hill, took Highgate to individual and clear team victory, in the first of the five Metropolitan League races on 15th October. The event took place in mild conditions with just the odd quick shower, and over 5 miles of undulating cross-country at Claybury Park. The Highgate senior men finished all their 12 team scorers within the first 42 places, ranking Highgate Harriers ‘A’ team in first position in Division One with 1445 pts; Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets second with 1386; third London Heathside 1075 and forth Highgate Harriers 'B' with 976. The 'C' team for Highgate Harriers men were top of Division 3.

The Highgate Harriers 12 scorers were William Broom 24:53; Robel Bahelbi 25:30; Pete Chambers 25:37; Terry Fawden 25:57; Rob Wilson 26:13; Harry Allan 27:16; Charlie Haywood 27:25; Sean Renfer 27:30; Henry Murdoch 27:35; Chris Hicks 27:53; Jack Bailey (U20) 27:59; Kemal Hamed (U20) 28:10 and the two leading 'B' team runners were James Barber 28:16 and Ethan Esteban-Protheroe (U20) 28:17.

The women's senior race was won by last year's champion Rebecca Hawling of London Heathside in 29:02. Victoria Park are leading in Division One with 327 pts; Heathside second with 318; Serpentine third with 260; Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets with 258 and fifth is Highgate ‘A’ with 211 pts. Of the Highgate women competing in the senior race, Flick Burton finished 12th in 32:55; 24th was Emily Young in 34:06; Louise Faherty finished in 35:15 (V45) and Sabina Russell in 36:27 (V55).
