Highgate Harriers men go further ahead in the Metropolitan league, in the top Division One, out of 21 club teams. and their 'B' team were higher than they have ever been in Division One, in the the history of the  event which started in 1966., coming 4th overall out of those clubs and, just ahead of respected clubs first teams Woodford Green, Harrow and Hillingdon! Highgate lead with 1554 points with Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets on 1389. Highgate's B; scored 1028.

In the race in pleasant sunny weather, over the Wormwood Scrubs course Roger Poolman, who won at Claybury, looked impressive striding out 40m ahead on the first of 3 laps but 'stamina man' Alex Lapetre was aware that Roger had a lethal finishing kick so, he bided his time and caugtt his man, just before the end the second  lap' in the woods, then ran very hard all the way to the finish. Both those two were in  Highgate's team that came 3rd in the National cross-relay in deplorable conditions, the previous Saturday. The Highgate 12 Man team at Wormwood Scrubs finsihed in the first 36 places out of 445 finishers! Here are the names 1 Alex Lepetre 21:47.7; 2 Roger Poolman 21:49.27; 4 Robbie Brown 22:25.42; 8 Rob Wilson 22:38.72; 13 Sean Renfer 23:13:83; 14 Chris Rainsford 23:15.24; 23 James Ross 23:41.33; 24 Sam Jinks 23:41.61.; 27 Charles Cooper 23:47.36; 28 Lewis Greaves 23:47.64 Grey Grierson 23:49:24; 36 Alex Jackson 24:08.05  The first 3 in the'B' team that finished so well were 40 Charlie Haywood 24:13.11; 48 Daniel Brewer :24:21.88 and 50 James Barber 24:33.32.              

Ann Gummow of Herts Phoenix won the women's race in 25:43.:18 but in a good 2nd place was Highgate's Yasmin Goater (27:34.64) following up her first league of the season in 3rd place at Claybury.  An impressive run was by the 1st 50 year old Natasha Cendrowicz who was 43rd in 30;32.82. Other Highgate runners 68th Louise Faherty a V45 68th in 32:5.52and 65 Ellen Kerr (32:03.80. 22 finished the race. Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets the leading team In the Under 17/15 race which had 100 finishers Felix Kent was a good 2nd in 14:0.89 a couple of seconds or so behind the winner
