On May the 20th at Parliament Hill Fields track, in the second highest graded race 6 at ‘Ben Pochee’s Highgate Harriers Night of 10,000M PB’s’, Germany’s Konstantin Wedel won Race 6, that had 33 starters in a time of 28:51.5, beating his personal best of 29:15 .

Having, said that, the marathon is the event he is going for and, will be training for his next one in Berlin. He was, 25th in 2:16.09 in the European Championships last year ,on the 15th of August, but feels he can run faster than that in the next marathon. He did say in the Winter when he had trained only in the mornings was, because his two sons were born then. He has trained in St Moritz with the rest of the German team but at home in Nuremberg, he trains on his own. Konstantin Wedel is 29 years old(Born 22/11/93) now has to his credit a 2:13:02 marathon in the Valencia Marathon ,which he did on the 20th of February 2.His other best times include a 3000m steeplechase in 8:38.25 on the 27thof July 2020 and a Half marathon in 1:03.02 on the 17th of October 2021. Cross country was something he appeared to like as a junior and in 2020 Wedel was 3rd the German Se Senior cross country Championships short course over the 4.4ks. His enjoyment for cross-country is not shared by Paul Chelimo, the 5k Olympic medallist who won Race 7 in a Parliament Hill stadium record in 27:12,73 also a PB. Chelimo told me after the race “I don’t like cross country. I like track and will continue to do that and road racing after that”
