Highgate Harriers 2023 AGM and Awards Night was held on Monday 2nd October where we celebrated achievement and recognised dedicated volunteers.

Outstanding Contribution to Highgate Harriers

Manish Agrawal
For his contribution to coaching, and his efforts in aiding the Middlesex Young Athletes League team management and results analysis.  Thanks to Manish for all his help over the year.

Rothery Award: Club Athlete of the Year

Lauren Russell
During a superb year of running 5k, Lauren represented England in the Junior Home International Under 20 Champs where she came 1st and won Team gold.  She ran in the U18 World Mountain running cup for England gaining team bronze and was 5th overall, and in the World Mountain and Tail running for GB also coming 5th overall and gaining team gold.  In addition, she was 3rd at the English Schools Cross Country Champs, 5th at the Nationals, 4th at the British Inter-counties and 1st in the Middlesex County Centenary Championships.

Jewell Award: Junior Athlete of the Year

Elsa Shabani
Over the past season Elsa has become a force to be reckoned with in the throws.  She won gold at English Schools with a Shot Put of 11.93m. Two months later at the London Inter-Club Challenge, her new PB of 12.56m pushed her ranking to 3rd in England for U15.

Runner Up: Junior Athlete of the Year

Monisade Ayodeji
Monisade competes in the 200m, 300m, High Jump and Long Jump.  She won the South of England Intercounties High Jump and ranked 5th in the country.Masters Athlete of the Year

Sabina Russell
The Russell household is something of a distance running dynasty.  Sabina represented England in the Masters International 10K and represented GB in World Masters Mountain Running Championships, winning silver for her Age Category and team gold for GB.

Miller Harvey Award 2023

James Ward
Awarded for his great work as a coach, and his role as the Lead Welfare Officer for the Club.  Many thanks to James for his continued dedication.

Our League winners receive their award for regular high-quality performances in league fixtures, resulting in them contributing the highest number of points towards the team’s tally.  Well done to all!

Greg Smith
Greg is stepping down after many years of coaching the club’s 400m athletes with great success. He is very committed club member who has helped in a number of areas, including being an invaluable member of the Track Refurbishment Stakeholders team.


Big thanks to Sinead Peak and Alima Diabate for decorating the room and bringing lovely cheeses and prosecco, which very much brightened up a damp Monday evening.
