Sonny Allen
It's been quite a remarkable month for one of our most talented young athletes, Sonny Allen!
This weekend she competed in the rearranged national cross-country champs at U15 level where she finished in a fantastic 4th place, which is even more impressive as she is an august baby and essentially was the youngest in the race as its her junior year of U15's.
Impressive from the start and avoiding the usual mayhem into the first corner, she quickly settled into the race, picking off the competition one by one and was comfortably 7th after the first lap. This she continued into the last lap, picking off, amongst others, the 800m national champion Jorja March and closing in on the leaders right to the finish. The only 3 who finished in front of her are all now U17 which bodes well for this seasons National Champs!
It doesn't end there; two weeks ago, Sonny entered the HH open meeting, competing in the 3000m for the first time and recorded a remarkable time of 10.00.86, ranking her 44th on the PowerOf10 all-time U15 list.
Then add to this last weekend winning the South of England 800m title and you can probably see why her coach can't stop grinning!!
Well done, Sonny Allen.

Another lovely surprise while watching the racing at Weston Park was to see another athlete i used to coach, along with Sarah and Rhonda, come flying towards me in the U17 category. I instantly recognised her running style and just managed to shout some encouragement as she passed. Hope i didn't startle her too much!
Leoni ran a fantastic race, coming in a brilliant 17th.
