At our 2025 Awards Night we celebrated some truly remarkable people. Here they are:
Rothery Award - Club Athlete of the Year: Flurry Grierson
Flurry had an impressive XC, road and track season. He took bronze in the National XC at Parliament Hill in February. Also 3rd in Regional XC champs and performed well on the track in LDN5000 and UK10,000. He contributed excellent legs in relays, from National 12 stage to supporting the club in Met League. He even squeezed in an easy 1500m win at the SAL.
Jewell Award – Junior Athlete of the Year: Sonny Allen
Sonny delivered numerous significant track and XC results over the season. In her favourite event of 1500m, the 2025 highlight was 3rd place in English Schools, and she also won the regional age group championship. At 3000m she won the Middlesex County Champs and ranks 5th nationally. Strong XC runner – at the recent Claybury Met League, Sonny won her race by a margin of nearly 2 minutes.
Masters Athlete of the Season AND Senior Road/Cross Country Athlete of the Season: Karima Harris
Two awards for Karima, who just can't stop breaking records. In 2025 she set new British W55 Masters records for 10k, 10 miles and 20 miles - beating the previous 20 mile best by 9 minutes. She set a European record Half Marathon in 77min 45sec at Fleet. This is an unofficial world's best. She was age group winner in this year's London Marathon and is targeting the world record in Valencia in December. Karima is also a key member of our road relay team.
Track & Field Athlete of the Season Winner: Thomas Chadwick
Thomas has come up through all the age groups of the club - as an U11 he was a regular at Hampstead Heath Parkrun. In 2024 he was 2nd in the mini London Marathon. Now an U20, this summer he ran 3’47” in the BMC Grand Prix 1500m at Trafford, bringing him national rank #6 in 1500m. This year he became a member of our road relay team.
Track & Field Athlete of the Season Runner Up: Harvey Weinberger
It was another solid year for Harvey, improving his 800m to 1’52” and his 1500 to 3’51”. He embodies the spirit of the Southern Athletics league, contributing points to our team in the 400m, discus and javelin.
Track & Field Junior Athlete of the Season: Amani Osman
In her first year in the U17 age group, Amani had a break out year in High Jump, achieving 1.66m on home turf in July at the Middlesex Young Athletes League, bringing her a #10 national ranking.
Road/Cross Country Junior Athlete of the Season Winner: Arjuna Pflug
In first year as an U17, won Middlesex County and 2nd in London Schools XC. Top 3 finish across 6 fixtures in NW London League and Met League XC, and won in Claybury in October. Strong in track 3000m also: 2nd in SEAA regionals and Middlesex County Champion in consecutive years, with national ranking #7.
Road/Cross Country Junior Athlete of the Season Runner Up: Harris Austin
In the U20 category this season, top 10 at both Southerns (Beckenham) and Nationals XC. Winner of Middlesex County XC. Won London Schools XC in consecutive years. Strong work also in track endurance, 3000m and 5000m.
Outstanding Contribution to the Club: Barny Foot
Tireless work with B Group, transforming the squad, as well as helping individual runners achieve new levels of success outside of the regular training sessions. As a result, B group is now a serious contributor to the club's Met League success, adding depth to the squad. After 2 fixtures in the current season, in addition to winning Mens Div 1, our B team is 5th and the C team is 2nd in Div 2. Our women's team in 4th is at their best position for some years.
Miller Harvey Award: Hannah Viner and Chris Rainsford
Joint award for developing a thriving training group. Both are role models able to share experience of competing at top level, while developing themselves as coaches. This combination of experience and dedication supports their athletes to great performances and retaining older teenagers in the sport.
Honorary Life Memberships: Felix Fletcher and Brenda Myers
Joint award for transforming QuadKids to a sell-out event. The atmosphere they create is both joyful and supportive. Future competitors are able to demonstrate their potential, while their tiny siblings take their first steps onto the track.
