In good weather at Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, all the runners ran the 'one short lap'.
It certainly looked like Highgate Harriers were going to win, when Jacob Allen ran a 14:53 time on leg 11 as opposed to Bristol & West's runner Jack Miller in second place, running 15.03 but Bristol & West took over on that last leg, behind Highgate but, running an international runner Will Battershill on that final anchor leg 12 who recorded 14:36 to overtake Highgate's Joseph Young, who ran a 15:23. Joseph was one of the heroes in Highgate's winning Southern team!
The day started with some excitement for the club, as 'Taha' Seyed Ghafari was only 2 seconds behind the leader in 14:48 on Stage One. The times for the rest of the team were:- Thomas Chadwick 15:26, Flurry Grierson 1507, Felix Kent 15:54, Monte Watson 15:29, David Lewis 15:40, Roger Poolman 14;56, Sam Jinks 15.43, Peter Chambers 14:52, Alex Lepretre 14:52, Jacob Allen 14:53, Joseph Young 15:23.
Several of the Highgate runners will be contesting the London Marathon on the 27th of April 2025.
