Highgate Harriers and Mornington Chasers combined track and field team, after two matches out of 4, are now up to first place in Division 3 North London of the Southern League. Highgate Harriers President Jen Hickson, rallied the club to perform and many turned out for the home match at Parliament Hill track on the 22nd of June.
Highgate will find it quite a challenge to stay at the top of the division, because their next meet will be at Uxbridge on the 12th of July, then at Lee Valley on the 31st of August. The overall scores after two matches on Match points, read well for the club.
Highgate & Mornington 812.5, Ealing, Southall & Middx 758; Serpentine 531. Enfield & Haringey 465; Orin & Loughton 422 and Barnet & District 394. It was filling in where they could and Highgate had two doing the women's 1500 steeplechase which is unheard of till now!
Bradley Baka, an Under 17 athlete ran 12.7 100 and a 24.12 for 200 Joseph Hayes ran 52.17 for 400. Highgate won the Mixed 4x 400 and the women's 4x100. Two who compete in Highgate's top class National Relays for the club Flurry Grierson who won the 1500 in 4:01.34 and Thomas Chadwick the 800 in 2:02.8. That was just a few of those who competed well.
