Pete Chambers, took his personal best time down for 3000m to 8:11.47. at Tooting Bec in the BMC meeting 0n the 20th of August. To think his best till this year was 8:33.35. Although he was 7th in his race, it was a British Milers top grade race.
Other personal best times were done by Highgate Harriers at the Tooting Bec meeting. Harris Austin did 3:55.25 for 1500m and Rory O'CorbaIdh did 4:24.70 for a PB for that on the 20th of August at Watford.
Sonny Allen continued to run well as an under 17, with 4:30.8 for 1500m at Watford and Flurry Grierson's time for 3000m of 8:15.70 was only just short of his best of 8:15' 9. Harvey Weinberger, who runs good sub 2 minute 800's this season, ran 1:52.69 at Tooting.
At Sutcliffe Park, Eltham, on the 13th of August, Tony Richards, now over 75 years of age, was out competing well. The Highgate Harrier threw the 1k discus 30'86m and with the shot 10'10m (in 1st place).
