Highgate Harriers just missed out, to gain promotion to the Division 2 of the Southern league, when they were runners up, after the Final of the Southern league Division 3 (London) at Lee Valley, on the 31st of August. However they had enjoyable competition, in the 'more lowly 'Southern league 3; as they Combined with Mornington Chasers again, for the men and women for their overall scores so ,they did well. Ealing Southall & Middx were 1st and promoted . They got 1576 Match points with 31 league points. Only being beaten by Highgate/Mornington Chasers in one meeting out of 4. In the Final table the rest were were 2 Highgate & Mornington Chasers 1573 (29 league points); The rest on match points were Serpentine RC 1084.5;Hillingdon 1090; Enfield & Haringey 903; Orion & Loughton 762; Barnet &District 711; Newham & Essex Beagles 561.
Two coaches stood out as helping the Highgate athletes for track and field through the season, particularly in the Southern League events were Sonia Marrtinez- Roura who competed in the league events and Andrea Spaccatrosi.
Highgate Harriers had the overwhelming numbers of athletes that perform in the Southern league on the day, rather than Mornington Chasers but Mornington have one who was to be outstanding on the day called Katrina Kelly. She won the 'B' 1500 in 5.11.1; and the 'B' Shot with 9.00.plus 4th in the javelin with 22'51. In the 5000 Mateo Pisanellt ran a personal best 5000 to come 2nd in 16:10.13. It was interesting to see Natasha Cendrowicz an 'Over 55' woman running 21:354;71 for 5000 for 3rd 'B' runner in the race.
Joseph Hayes (under 20) did the good time of 1:58.6 to win the 'A' 800. Isiah Ladejo was 2nd in the 100 'A' in 10.18. 1st in the Womens 'A' 1500 was Leoni Devendahl an Under 20 runner who ran 4:56.8
