Forty Highgate athletes attended the last match of the Southern Athletic League at Lee Valley on 31st August, in our promotion head-to-head with Ealing. The team gave it their all, with the following athletes competing in three or more track and field events:

- Katrina Kelly
- Rosa Kirwin
- Anna Koshevaya
- Said Mohammed-Mariche
- Max Satterley Webley
Zavier Achiampong won man of the match, with a triple jump of 13.81m, as well as competing in the 100m and long jump.
We were pipped to the post by Ealing, who won on 430 points, against our 414, almost 100 points clear of the next club in the match. Ealing have therefore secured the single guaranteed promotion slot from our North London division to division 2. There is still a chance we will be promoted as the "6th club" from the five division 3 competitions, as we were the highest scoring second placed team, only 3 match points behind the overall winner in our division. Martin Howard has kindly stated our case to the league. Nevertheless, it was a good match, and a lot of people tried events and had a chance of competition, which they would not otherwise have done.
