Highgate’s women were out in force for the first Met League meeting of the season on Saturday 11th October. On a beautiful sunny afternoon in Claybury, 11 Highgate ladies donned their black and white vests (and some their new Highgate x Sums socks, available from the club) to take on the 3-lap, 8.1km course. This marked a 120% increase in runners compared to the same fixture last year.

The teams delivered some brilliant results, scoring 341 points between them, an increase of 60% year-on-year. The current league standings are as follows:

  • In Division 1, the A team are currently sitting 5th in the table, double last year’s 10th position after the first race.
  • In Division 3, the B team are currently top of the table.
  • Also in Division 3, the C team are in 5th, an impressive performance given last year there were no Highgate teams in this division.
  • Finally, our veteran women are sitting 3rd in the table after incredible performances as ever.

With 4 races left to go, there are plenty of opportunities to run and help the club ascend the league tables. Volunteers are also always welcome, with many roles available from gazebo and flag set-up to of course cheering. The next fixture is on 15th November at Horsenden Hill.
