Highgate Harriers’ women claimed the top prize at Saturday’s 77th running of the Liddiard Trophy at Fryent Country Park.
Previous editions have been won by famous names including Dave Bedford and Julian Goater. In slightly more recent times, winners have included past and current Highgate greats such as Becky Penty, Alex Gounelas, Molly Renfer and Ashley Scott.
The going was soft enough to take a spike but still a nice autumnal surface. In her first ever race for the club, Coral Holmes heroically pipped a sneaky Serpie at the last to help the team win the Patricia O’Connor Cup by just a single point.
Coral (20th) was helped to gold by teammates Hannah Viner (1st), Sabina Russell (8th) and Louise Faherty (11th).
