Highgate Harrier Leon Wheeler, running for Kings College, in the London University Colleges event indoors, at Lee Valley on the 23rd of November, not only did he run his fastest time for 1500m indoors of 4min 01.98sec but finished 2nd in the elite race.
On the 19th of November, HIGHGATE HARRIERS held their yearly awards ceremony at the St Pancras Community Association Building. There were two well established awards, one was for the Harry Rothery Trophy for the outstanding senior performer and it went to Flurry Grierson, who was always placed well, as across-country runner, including coming 3rd in the National Senior cross country Championships, in February in the mud at Parliament Hill Fields. and the other trophy was the Walter Jewell Trophy for the outstanding Junior for the year, who was Sonny Allen, an improving junior, who besides other successes on the track was 3rd in the highly rated English Schools Championships over 1500m. Thomas Chadwick was the outstanding junior from the Men's side. Karina Harris got the Masters award as prolific record breaker on the road' as an Over 55 athlete.
Hannah Viner, who has been a leading runner through the younger age groups but now a senior plus distance runner Chris Rainsford 'jointly' got the Miller Harvey Award for their brand of coaching.
Barny Foot was praised for his contribution to the club as an adviser and helper.
Other names who obtained awards were Harvey Weinberger; Amani Osman & Arjuna Pflug.
Brenda Myers & Felix Fletcher were put up for Honorary Life membership of the club
