Having won the London Schools title with ease a couple of weeks ago, Sonny has now added the Southern Inter-Counties title to her ever-growing list of victories.
Terrible conditions 30 minutes before the start didn't bode well for any of the athletes but the horizontal rain stopped just in time and while muddy underfoot it was not too bad (only coaches can say that!).
Fast out of the blocks right from the start Sonny led the way and separated herself from all but one other athlete by the 2km mark. The Kent runner presented some serious competition right to the final bend but Sonny's phenomenal kick allowed her to sprint clear in the final 80m!
All this bodes well for the major events, Nationals and English Schools, after Christmas even though she is in the junior year of the U17!
