The Bottomists, Boxing Day cross-country race, run over Hampstead Heath, first started by the Late Ted Fosbrook, a  coach & runner for the club but, now organised by his daughter Deborah Laing. It was a success in the reasonable conditions underfoot.            In the past, winners had included top Highgate distance runners, such as George Harrison.
Arjuna Pflug, the 1500/3000m Middlesex Champion for Under 17, was 1st
of the 30 finishers in 16:36; 2nd was Woody Nicol (U20);16:45; 3rd James Cameron (U20) 16:52, 4th Sonnie Allen (U17) a Southern & London Under17' women's Champion (17:00); 5th Zaini Broach (U15) 17:28 and 6th Jack Cobbold (U15) 18:07)
EVENTS coming up for Highgate Harriers include the Metropolitan League at Welwyn on the 10th of January; The Southern Championships at Beckenham Place Park on the 24th of January and the Final Metropolitan League of the season at Trent park on the 7th of February because, Highgate will have to have a strong team out that day to win the senior league for the 14th year consecutively, rather than do the later arranged Home Counties International on Hampstead Heath, so that the club can secure overall victory.
