As the 5th of 5 Metropolitan League cross-countries was called off, because of the very serious flooding at Trent Park on the the 7th of February, the League became a 4 of 4 contest; as no club agreed to put a 5th one on to replace Trent Park! The scores were totalled and, it was no surprise that the Men's League table was headed for the 13th year consecutively by Highgate Harriers, which was after Woodford Green had been top for 4 years running before that but, 'Highgate's amazing men' won outright again (1st Highgate 7582 & 2nd Victoria Park & Tower Harriers 7505)
For the Howard Williams Trophy, for Combined Men, Women and Juniors, the Trophy went to Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets with London Heathside 2nd and Highgate 3rd. Two of those who started the Metropolitan  League in 1966 were Terry Driscoll & coach George Harrison with Howard Williams himself
