Competitive Young Athletes
Next Gen is for children from 10 to 18, that train towards events and competition as well as for fitness. Groups train year-round between 1 and 3 times per week and expect regular attendance. These training groups form our club teams that compete in leagues. Every child is supported to develop at their own pace and introduced to competition only when they are ready and can gain enjoyment and satisfaction from doing so.
Most children joining Next Gen will have previously participated in QuadKids, High 5, and / or competed for their school or another athletics club. Some children may be changing their competitive sport, or adding a second sport.
Demand for Next Gen is high. As an inclusive charity, we will never let affordability be a barrier to participation. In such cases the club is able to offer bursaries towards club membership fees. We will prioritise on the basis of enthusiasm, commitment, and talent.

Team Competition
From October through March we compete in the North West London Cross Country League and the Metropolitan Cross Country League. In the Track & Field season we compete in the Middlesex Young Athletes League and the Youth Development League. Parents play an important role in supporting participation in competition.

Staying Safe
Appropriate kit is required for both training and competition. Spikes are recommended for some events. Always bring a water bottle. High visibility clothing is requested for off-track training and in addition hi viz jackets can be borrowed from the club. The weather can vary dramatically and athletes should wear layers to adjust, prepared for rain and with gloves for winter. Coaches may decline to take athletes off-track who are not appropriately dressed.
The Club upholds high standards of safeguarding aligned with England Athletics best practice, as detailed in our Policies and Codes of Conduct.
